Prep
Having just finished replacing the induction kit and an oil & filter change, the car was in dire need of a good clean up. 2 rounds of polish followed by a protection layer. Also cleaned up the frunk.
Friday: Drive
Banchory to Port a Bhaigh campsite near Achiltibue via the Lecht, roughly 4.5 hours ETA.
I didn’t stop for any pictures at my usual places, but couldn’t resist stopping when I turned off the main Ullapool road towards Achiltibue – my first time experiencing this jaw dropping road!
Saturday: Paddle
Tide times were favourable with low tide at 1pm, so my plan was to paddle out with the tide in the morning then come back as the tide came in (high tide 7pm). So lucky once again with the weather, although it was a tad windy at 10 knots, it was manageable and hugging the coastline kept me well sheltered. Such a fantastic place to paddle.
An excellent paddle! Made it over to Isle Ristol and had lunch outside a small cave overlooking the beach and then explored some of the shoreline while waiting for the wind & tide to shift.
Sunday: Drive
I took an ever so slightly different route home, but will definitely use this again. I normally head to the A9 via Carrbridge, but with the A9 being heavily affected by roadworks, I decided to take the A939 from Nairn to Grantown-on-Spey on the way back. Another new road for me which was an excellent drive so now my preferred route!
